Canadian Hairdressers Union

Are the hairdressers willing to get together and form an union to save their jobs ?

Does an Union of Hairdressers and Barbers sound good to you in Canada ?

Are the hairdressers affected by the unauthorized competition by salons selling color tubes to public ?

They noticed that a severe amount of chemical services went down, affecting their weekly pay cheque, what can they do about it? Per example, a fair salary based on the amount of years experience, a minimum price required for haircut (salon owner can charge higher but not lower, don't forget it is a trade), haircare and chemical services, special discounts with suppliers on tools, hair industry trade shows.

Respect of minimum wages.

Eliminating the black market that takes our jobs away, the non-tax collectors.

A job board for unionized hairdressers that salon owners will pay for posting a job in the salon industry, per city. It could be hairstylist, haircolor technician, salon manager, texture specialist, sales representative ( it will make sense that they need to be licensed ), etc.

Canada should have a union controlled by a Chairman where the hairdressers have a chance to keep their job. Perhaps a local chairman could be named for each of the Canadian provinces that do carry a Cosmetology Act, except Quebec. The Province of Quebec does not have a Cosmetology Law, so it is a free for all in the hair industry, lots of jobbers.

Canada does not have an union of hairdressers but with what we have read with other countries such as Belgium, Netherlands, UK and Russia, it could be possible. Perhaps a dream could come through if the hairdressers proud of their trade could stand up, and reducing the amount of jobbers that pretend to be hairdressers, a shame for our industry.

Understand that people does not like to pay union dues but this could save your job on the long term. No job, no money, and no money, no enjoyment of life. Of course, these union dues will be deducted from income tax, and could be direct deposit for a minimum payment per month. Appreciate Canadian hairdressers input only. The reason is that many countries do regulate the Cosmetology, Hairdressing differently.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Red Haircolor Fading

If you have red hair color and it does not stay as long as you thought want to,

try this :

washing your hair with warm water is better than hot water, otherwise your red pigments in hair color will not last as long as you want to.

Also, performing color services on people that has previously washed their hair with shampoos bought in DrugStores or Retail Stores will NOT give nice result as good as people using professional hair care products bought in hair salons. Should I guarantee my professional work if you are washing your hair with the CHEAP STUFF ? OF COURSE NOT, I AM NOT SO STUPID !

Why? Some of the cheap stuff does have wax, beeswax. And if you have Henna i.e. Vegetable Dye, oh well, good luck to find a salon willing to color your hair because I won't !

If you buy your shampoos at the drugstores, there are chances that your shampoo contains a lot of wax. And does haircolor gets through the wax build up on your outer layer of the hair i.e. cuticle. It will difficult to have the color pigments to go into the hair shaft when there is wax between hair color mixture and the hair shaft.

I always say to my salon customers to buy professional hair care products for keeping your haircoloring investment.

Suggested brands that you could find in beauty salons or spas : Quantum Preserva, Matrix Color.Smart, Biolage Color Care, Redken Color Extend, KMS Color Vitality, Nioxin Protectives for colored hair, Schwarzkopf Bonacure Colorsealing. Wella, AG, Kenra, Joico and Back to Basics Lavender, SOMA, TiGi, etc.

In fact, you will be surprised and amazed to find out that professional haircare products do often cost less per year than the popular shampoo brands shown in TV commercials and Magazines.

Awesome Shampoo Recipes

Do you want to know any shampoo recipies ?

I am very curious about what we could do with many brands of shampoo and conditioner that you could buy in drugstores, retail stores . I read many interesting articles in this hairstyle forum.

Baby shampoo Johnson & Johnson could remove wax on the floor.

Herbal Essences shampoo does remove soap scum in your bathtub or your sink, also does remove tough dirt on the floor. And wash your dishes with it.

Shimmers Light shampoo does remove the yellowish color on the melamine.

Pantene Pro V will turn to wax when put for a period of 30 secondes in your microwave. This is why there is a wax build up on your hair.

Head and Shoulders could be used to clean jewels and also remove blood stains. Use as industrial soap detergent.

Does people know more shampoo recipes ??

Mullet Haircuts Are Back !

Yes the Mullet Haircuts are back from the 80's?

Many wrestlers had that hairstyle, Beatle singer Paul McCartney had it too at some time when he was singing his wife Linda. I heard they were coming back ! Good or Bad

It is a cycle like fashion, i.e. every twenty years. For pictures on mullet haircuts, you should have a look at url link www.mulletlovers.com . Not only for men but women and children too ! But on the other hand, we do have more styling and haircutting techniques (slicing, pointcutting, thinning, clipper, texturizing, italian bang) to make the mullet hairstyle for fashionable.

As a final note, I'll rather be doing a mullet haircut than mushroom haircut. But in the other hand, the mushroom hairstyle is coming back too!

Believe it is the Retro Year in 2006....... Everything comes back in style such as finger waves.
But not too many stylists can you do it. It needs a lot of practice and skills to do them nicely i.e. not pinching.
